Here at Olio, we only use N-Butane for our solvent extractions, which we believe offers a more gentle extraction that results in more depth to the profile of our final concentrate. With our garden’s focus on maximizing and preserving the resin production, we want to do everything in our power to make sure those same amazing aromas stay as true to nature all the way to the end.

DRY SUGAR
A form of Live Resin defined by the volume of terpenes present which typically falls in the 5-10% range. Some consumers prefer the smoothness of the dry sugar in comparison to the wet. While the high isn’t as complex as the Wet Sugar, it is noticeably more potent. For the consumers that just want a firm THC smack in the face, the dry sugar is the way to go.

WET SUGAR
A form of Live Resin defined by the volume of terpenes present which typically falls in the 40% range. The extra terpenes offer more flavor and aroma but at the cost of a slightly harsher smoke. In theory, the additional terpenes should also enhance the psychoactive effects of the concentrate. More terpenes vaporized alongside the cannabinoids should engage more of an entourage effect.

FRESH FROZEN CANNABIS
Our cannabis is harvested and immediately frozen to create our starting material for the wash.
BUTANE CLOSED-LOOP
EXTRACTION
Fresh frozen cannabis is packed into a material column which is then placed in a freezer.

The cold, pressurized Butane is pushed into the column with Nitrogen
This is where we use Nitrogen to more the Butane

The Butane dissolves all desirable hash material from the fresh frozen

A valve is opened and the Butane-Hash mixture is pushed into the chamber

This is where we use heat to move the Butane

The material column is removed

The collection chamber is warmed which turns the liquid butane into a pressurized vapor where it makes its way back to the cold solvent chamber where it returns to a liquid
All hash material is left behind!
COLLECTION CHAMBER
The hash is taken from the collection chamber and incubated for 1-30 days depending on strain.
Over time, the hash separates into 2 layers. At that time, it will be placed in a vacuum oven and purged of all residual Butane.
Our Dry Sugar is 5-10% terpene content, with the rest as THCA crystals.
Our Wet Sugar is up to 40% terpene content, with the rest as THCA crystals.
